'Punjabiyan di battery' fetches Rs 1.15 crores

The song 'Punjabiyan di battery' from upcoming film, Mere Dad Ki Maruti (MDKM), got a surprising request.

A telecom biggie from Punjab approached them to buy the rights to the song for an ad jingle.

Apparently, the company is so interested in the track that they are willing to shell out a whopping Rs 1.15 crores for the rights. A source reveals, "They are investing so much only to make a jingle using the song, that too, only for their market in Punjab. It's a huge deal to put in so much money just for one region."

The song has done very well up north thanks to the popularity of its singers, Mika and Honey Singh. "It's a lot of money, given that MDKM is a very small film. However, this song has become a rage in the north, and the telecom company wants to cash in on it," adds the source.

' Punjabiyan di battery' is an ode to Punjabi people, who live their lives to the fullest and are always charged up. The telecom company wants to highlight the same fact.
