'Yo Yo Honey Singh' vs 'Punjabi MC' in MDKM

Mere Dad Ki Maruti is one film that has been making news for its music and more importantly friction between singers.

The song Punjabiya di Battery from the film Mere Dad Ki Maruti sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Mika is already a big hit. And now the makers are releasing their second number Haaay.

The common element between the two songs is that both are hardcore Punjabi numbers sung by popular Punjabi singers. While Punjabiya di Battery sung by Honey Singh and Mika has already become an instant hit, Punjabi MC is an international sensation known for his hit number 'Mundian to Bach Ke Rahi'. This is the first time he will be rapping for a Bollywood film.

"This is the first song in the film that's plays out during the opening credits. It's the introduction the two leads of the movie Saqib Saleem and Rhea Chakraborty", says a source closely associated with the film. "The song titled Haaay is sung by Manake with raps by Panjabi MC himself. It will portray the pure essence of Chandigarh and Punjab, as the song has been shot at Chandigarh and Punjab University. The song will soon be aired on the national television."

Interesting Mere Dad Ki Maruti has been making news for its music and more importantly friction between singers. Just some days back Mika apparently had a problem with Yo Yo Honey Singh getting more footage than him. Now with Punjabi MC coming into picture, the music war is expected to just get hotter.

"Both the singers have their own share of popularity. The audience will now have to decide who rapped the best", concludes the source.

'Punjabiyan di battery' fetches Rs 1.15 crores

The song 'Punjabiyan di battery' from upcoming film, Mere Dad Ki Maruti (MDKM), got a surprising request.

A telecom biggie from Punjab approached them to buy the rights to the song for an ad jingle.

Apparently, the company is so interested in the track that they are willing to shell out a whopping Rs 1.15 crores for the rights. A source reveals, "They are investing so much only to make a jingle using the song, that too, only for their market in Punjab. It's a huge deal to put in so much money just for one region."

The song has done very well up north thanks to the popularity of its singers, Mika and Honey Singh. "It's a lot of money, given that MDKM is a very small film. However, this song has become a rage in the north, and the telecom company wants to cash in on it," adds the source.

' Punjabiyan di battery' is an ode to Punjabi people, who live their lives to the fullest and are always charged up. The telecom company wants to highlight the same fact.

DU doesn’t want Honey Singh for college fests

Many colleges in DU say the singer is 'not worthy' of performing at the fests this year 2013.

After his great success in Bollywood debut with Cocktail, and many other hits that followed, many at Delhi University were expecting Honey Singh to be the next big thing during this year's fest season. But after questions were raised about the lyrics of his songs, DU colleges have decided to take his steps away from the controversial singer and are going in for safer options like Kailash Kher, Mika and KK instead. The faculty members in many colleges have put a blanket ban on Honey Singh this fest season. While some student unions cite his increasing fee as the reason, many others are clear about him being "unworthy" of performing in their college.

Honey singh is not worthy of performing at our fest
Not just the faculty, but the students' union members have decided to boycott Honey Singh for the popular star night. Pratyush Rai, prime minister, Hindu College, said, "For the star night, we look for big performers who can keep the huge crowds engrossed for two to three hours. In our union, it is a collective choice not to call Honey Singh. We don't consider him to be a star worthy of performing at Hindu."
