Mika and Honey join hands for Sachinn Gupta
Music director Sachinn Gupta has roped in singers Mika Singh and Honey Singh for the track Punjabiyaan Di Battery in Mere Dad Ki Maruti.
"While composing the song with director Ashima Chibber, producer Ashish Patil and lyricist Kumaar, we all felt that the rustic and ethnic voices of Punjab would best suit the song. Also, since the film is based in Chandigarh, it made Mika's and Honey's voice an apt choice," says Sachinn.
The composer adds, "Mika is a friend. In fact, he suggested that I rope in Honey as well and even called him up on my behalf. Honey agreed instantly. It's for the first time that the two have come together for a song." For another song, Tod Taad Ke Border, Gupta roped in Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh, who will mark his Bollywood debut with the track.
Sachinn's previous compositions include Doorie, sung by Atif Aslam. He has also sung songs like Tere Liye (Unplugged) in Prince (2010) and Bhool Jaaun (along with Himesh Reshammiya) in Damadamm (2011).

Punjab govt working on policy to ban vulgar songs
CHANDIGARH: Vulgar, misogynist and sexist songs in Punjab may now be things of past, as the Punjab government on Friday made it clear before the Punjab and Haryana high court that they are in the process of finalizing a policy to ban such songs in the state.
Counsel for the Punjab government made this statement on Friday before the Punjab and Haryana high court in response to public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Nawanshar based NGO.
After recording the submission of Punjab's counsel, a division bench comprising Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice R K Jain of the HC fixed the hearing for April 25, when the policy of the state government on the issue is expected to be produced before the court. Earlier on February 18, the bench had asked the Punjab to inform if the state is making any efforts to stop recording and playing of lewd/ vulgar songsin the state.
The matter had reached before the HC through a PIL filed by NGO HELP of Nawanshar seeking directions to set up some effective mechanism for curbing the menace of obscene/ vulgar/lewd songsfrom the state of Punjab, such as setting up of some censure board or framing some other policy.
The petitioner had referred to a news report published in " The Times of India" for bringing home the fact as to how vulgar/ obscene songsare being recorded and played by certain Punjabi singers. A specific reference was made to a song"Main Hoon Balatkari" sung by Honey Singh.
The petitioner stated that all limits of decency are being violated by such songs. The petitioner referred to provisions of section 294 of Indian Penal code (IPC), according to which singing of lewd/ obscene songs at public places is an offence. It was further stated that women have the right to protect their dignity, as a facet of their fundamental right of "right to life", and such fundamental right to dignity of human being womanhood, cannot be violated under the garb of "right to freedom of speech".
According to the petitioner, there is a spurt in the quantum of such obscene songsbeing recorded and played these days, but the Punjab Government has not taken any steps to curb this growing menace.
